Who should have sprinklers fitted   Sprinkler Fact

Research shows that most fatal fires occur in low status families and areas, however there is no reliable research available to suggest why.

It should be remembered that even Her Majesty, the queen has suffered from fire, the most publicised being the Windsor Castle Fire. Interestingly, Windsor Castle now has Fire Sprinklers installed as does Buckingham Palace

During February 2000 MP Michael Colvin and his wife died in their home. If sprinklers had been fitted, the story could have been so much different

People living in Houses of Multiple Occupation (HMOs) are an easily identifiable group and make up around 35% of fire deaths annually. This means however that 65% of people die in their own homes!

The Elderly and Children are most likely to die in fires, though the less able are a high risk too. Hearing impaired people may not even know a smoke alarm is sounding, as most remove their aides during the night.

Statistics world-wide show that most fatalities occur during the night, when even if woken by a smoke alarm, people are disorientated by virtue of having just woken up & by smoke.

Fire does not discriminate! It can strike anyone, anywhere at anytime. This is why EVERYONE should fit Spencer-Fire Life Saving FIRE SPRINKLERS!

Historic buildings and their contents should have fire sprinklers installed. During January of 2005, the historic Allerton Castle North Yorkshire had a fire which destroyed the roof and first floor of the Grade 1 listed building, also during January 2005, a fire tore through the north wing of Stoke Rochford Hall near Grantham Lincolnshire.

Fire Sprinklers are NOT expensive

“ I cannot afford them “

Domestic fire sprinklers are more expensive than smoke alarms BUT, as has been shown on previous pages, smoke alarms are not designed to extinguish fires. The role of a smoke alarm is to alert you to SMOKE, not FIRE!

Affordability is always an issue, and we at Spencer-Fire do not give any misleading cost guides. Depending on the alarm system chosen, the type of property protected and various other considerations, prices for fitting into existing properties start at around £ 1,000.

Fitting in NEW BUILD taking into account the various possible trade offs is around  £ 800.

A recent fire in ROCHDALE Lancashire, in a terraced property claimed the lives of 1 adult and three children. Spencer-Fire estimate the cost of fitting fire sprinklers in this property would be around £ 1400 only. A cost of £ 350 per life lost!

The question should be:

Can I afford not to have sprinklers?
