| Why Should I Fit
Domestic Fire Sprinklers? |
|
Sprinkler Fact |
| Spencer-Fire domestic
fire sprinklers are primarily designed for saving lives! BUT fire
sprinklers are also ideal for protecting property and contents.
LIFE SAFETY:
The statistics are clear, you are more likely to be killed or injured in a fire in your home than any other place or building.
Imagine if a small secondary school had a fire and ALL of the pupils were killed. There would be a massive outcry. People tend to die in one & twos in domestic fires, therefore they are rarely reported except in local papers. The exception being when the person or people who die are public figures or celebrities.
The figures do not show how many other people are affected by a fatal fire. How many children lose one or both parents? how many parents lose children, how many families and friends are affected by the loss of a loved one?
More people are injured in fires every year, than is the population of the Town
Spencer-Fire is based in! Many of these injuries are life changing.....People who are scarred and disfigured for life, yet they all had one thing in common with you reading this............. They all thought it would never happen to them! Fires only ever occur to other people. WRONG. This time next year, you your wife/partner and children may form the statistics above.

Smoke Alarms are not enough.
Smoke alarms have undoubtedly contributed to the decline of fire related deaths, BUT during one year (1998), over 140 people died where a smoke alarm was fitted and working, when the Fire Service arrived !
Fire sprinklers have an unrivalled life saving record. NOBODY has died as a result of fire in a fully sprinklered property anywhere in the world!
It is estimated that if every home installed fire sprinklers up to 80% of fire related deaths would be avoided.

| The figures used in the table
above show fire death & injuries which occurred during 2001. These are the most up to date figures available, which although estimated, actually show a decrease in fire related death and injury. This reduction is most likely due to the uptake of smoke alarms in properties. The panel to the right highlights the downside of smoke alarms, and demonstrates that even with a working smoke alarm, deaths still occur. |
